I am just an amateur photographer with a camera, but persistence pays. It took me a long time to learn that often only every 50th photo turns out nicely. In the end, the effort is worth it. Here are some of my photos – a mixture of effort, patience and of course luck. Also check out my galleries at 500px.com/nilscordes.
Given that I am an entomologist, it’s probably no surprise that the majority of my photos are of insects. Their world is just an incredible microcosm. My favorite lens for documenting it: Canon EF 100mm f2.8 L Macro IS.
Birds and mammals pose a particular challenge for me. Iit feels like I just can never get close enough to them to get a good shot. If I do, it turns out an impressive encounter. My favorite lens: Canon EF 70-200mm f4 L IS.
Life can be found anywhere, from a meadow to the big city. Colours, patterns, hidden stories – sometimes I think that any cheap snapshot is some kind of peek into nature’s daily grind.
